The Paul and Alice Baker Center for Public Media

Description

Arizona Public Media (AZPM) is an editorially independent, member supported, not-for-profit public media organization provided by the University of Arizona as an educational and informational community service. AZPM exemplifies the goals and objectives of public media and furthers the land-grant mission of the University, serving all or parts of eleven Arizona counties with three public television program services, three public radio services, and a variety of online services at azpm.org. In addition to delivering programs from PBS, NPR, and the BBC, among others, AZPM produces award-winning original newscasts, public affairs programs, documentaries, and community engagement events for and about the people of Southern Arizona. A new, modern facility for Arizona Public Media will better serve ever-changing community needs and interests, support the education and training of University of Arizona students, improve visibility and community access, and model the transparency aspect of journalism. The new 50,000 sf facility will be designed specifically to meet current and future technical and broadcast requirements, including the replacement of much of AZPM’s aging broadcast production infrastructure as we transition to 4K production in preparation for the conversion to a new television broadcast standard (NextGen TV).
